GASTAR™ NatGas Software
ENSYTE provides flexible, comprehensive, and feature-rich risk mitigation software solutions for managing the natural gas supply chain—from the producer/marketer to the end user/customer.
ENSYTE offers flexible hosting options for the GASTAR Solution, including the Database, Application Programs, Batch Processing Utilities and Notification/Alert programs. ENSYTE offers hosting through our partnership with Airdesk Solutions, as well as Cloud or Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas), and AWS or other subscription-based hosting.
There are multiple "touch points" between the GASTAR business functions and Company legacy systems. In many cases, the systems, such as Gas Utility CIS and SCADA systems must be synchronized daily for efficient management of the complementary and parallel business functions. In some cases, hourly or event-driven interfaces must be implemented, which is a GASTAR feature. Companion to the data interface question is real-time validation and error detection which must be communicated via email or texts, as appropriate.
GASTAR manages communication of contract transactions, revenue, and expenses facilitated with everyday tools such as PC screens, internet websites, tablets, and smart phones. The software utilizes well-known and accepted MS Excel data exports for further analysis and processing; combining with related corporate data is also a distinct software asset. GASTAR will soon integrate a commercial Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics program to round out the GASTAR communication process for Company and Counter Party Users.
GASTAR provides a summary view of a Company’s bottom line by providing computation of contract expenses, revenue, and verification. GASTAR has a comprehensive Gas Accounting Module that handles Accrual reporting and end-of-month reconciliation to Vendor Invoices. The gas accounting processes are organized against a Client-specific set of managerial accounts that capture data at the lowest level and roll it up first to the contract level and then sequential from the lowest account to summation accounts. The processes are topped off with an interface to the Company’s CIS/GL Accounting systems.
GASTAR is Contract-based to capture all business transactions, such as: Transportation, Storage, Natural Gas Buy/Sell, Asset Management, Liquids, Retail Pooling and others. Related modules are the Rate/Tariff and Price Indices business functions. A flexible document upload and view capability is included.
Supported by a NAESB Master Contract, the Physical Gas Trading Module supports Natural Gas purchases, sales, and unique purchase and off-system sales transactions. For example, storage asset management purchases and OSS margin analysis & reporting. Combined with transportation linking and routing, a WACOG calculation is made at transaction points and at the delivery locations.
A NAESB-compliant Nominations and Confirmation Module supports traditional pipeline, gathering, and gas utility gas management business practices. Extensive modeling to support auto-confirmations, including an EDI Confirmations model. Alerts for intraday nominations and support for hourly nominations for Co-Gens, electric generation, and large industrials.
Natural Gas wellhead production enters a gathering pipeline midstream with numerous flow constraints, costs, and volume reduction options. GASTAR supports owner balancing, wellhead purchases, and pooled delivery point transactions. A rigorous back allocation routing allocates sales energy and revenue from the sales point back to the wellhead. Allocations handle all volume components pre and post gas processing.
GASTAR supports all Natural Gas component data streams such as LNG and Propane for gas utility peaking services and for supporting commercial ventures with purchases, sales, liquefaction, vaporization, and storage inventories. For LDC operations, the units can be either liquid (gallons) or gas volumes (MCF). The module is the terminal part of the gas processing functionality.
Built on GASTAR foundation models is a set of software features for managing gas utility “Retail Choice” customers. Residential, businesses, and large industrials are arranged into Natural Gas supplier pools or individually managed to oversee supplier performance and to charge appropriate imbalance and cash out fees. Managing “Retail Choice” business practices is an expanded but parallel effort for the Gas Utility.
